Mission

Whiskers in the Wildflowers Animal Rescue, to be located in the northern DFW area, will be a nonprofit organization that will rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and cats in crisis, ensure healthy pets through advocacy, and educate and inspire the surrounding communities to create a happier and safer world for our companions. We will alleviate the pressure off of overcrowded shelters, provide a safe place for found pets and dumped pets and heal them back to health for them to be adopt to the perfect home.

Who We Are

Whiskers in the Wildflowers Animal Rescue is a facility lead by members of the DFW community catering to the abandoned, hurt, and lost pets as well as taking those pets out of the overcrowded shelters to prevent unnecessary euthanasia.

Whiskers in the Wildflowers Animal Rescue offers rescue, medical service, rehabilitation, and finding the perfect home for each pet through home checks and interviews. We provide education to the community on the importance of spay/neutering and pet health. We assist those in needing to rehome their pets and those who have found a lost/abandoned pet. Our indoor dog park allows for a safe space for dogs to play regardless of the weather, helping more dogs get the exercise that they need.

Whiskers in the Wildflowers Animal Rescue’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome any pets in need in the DFW area. We hope to educate the public on the importance of spay/neutering and to not abandon an animal, bring them to us to help. We strive to see Texas as a euthanasia-free state with alleviating the pressure and overcrowding of shelters with euthanasia lists.

Management Team

Whiskers in the Wildflowers animal rescue is led by Kyrie Rodgers who has been involved in the animal nonprofit world for 18 years through board experience, pet care, and graphic design. She is supported by a team which includes Allison Evans (Secretary), Toni Briggs (Treasurer), Zoraida Almenas, Stacey Whitmarsh, Veronica Andrulat, and Jason Rodgers that have experience running both for-profit and non-profit ventures. Specifically, our team has solid experience in the care and rehabilitation of animals, organizing events, marketing to the local community and achieving key goals.

History

Whiskers in the Wildflowers animal rescue was founded by Kyrie Rodgers because of the amount of tragic animal stories being posted multiple times a day on social media about the pets in the DFW area. As a recent transplant from Colorado where the shelters have fewer pets and shorter euthanasia lists with rare stories of abandoned pets, Kyrie was unable to sit by and watch while her new community was tossing such beautiful animals aside as if they were nothing. She saw some members of the community ask why something isn’t being done by the cities, so she asked herself “why don’t I do something about it?”

Whiskers in the Wildflowers was founded in 2023 and is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and has been growing in support ever since.
